UCM SUSTAINABILITY

This photo shows the site for phase one of the UC Merced campus in Merced, CA. The site was previously agricultural land which was donated to the campus. The desert climate was a challenge for the designers.

Sustainability for the Science + Engineering Building included:
1. energy efficient HVAC
2. right-sizing lighting levels
3. designing an effective envelope including glazing, skin and sunshading.
