UCM SUSTAINABILITY

This diagram shows the Science + Engineering Building in its actual relationship to the north-south coordinate system.

The master plan by S.O.M. was designed with the main street running southwest to northeast at 45 degrees to the coordinate system. This means that most buildings have two west-facing facades. This became a major heat-gain challenge.

I focused on the envelope and sunshading design and detailing.
